SEE SAFETY EXPECTATIONS BELOWThank you for your interest in auditioning for SCP's LIVE ON STAGE upcoming production of West Side Story. Non-equity community theater. While this is an adult production and not a junior production, some actors may be teenagers given the nature of the characters. If you feel you can look the part as described below (likely 16yo and above given need for vaccination) please audition. We are holding virtual auditions to start, but will have in-person safe and distanced outdoor callbacks in late April or early May. We will confirm call back dates (outside for singing, acting and dancing) in your callback email.
We plan to produce the show live, in person, on stage, with a real audience in September. SAFELY!
The Sunnyvale Theater is currently closed. The state of CA has announced that indoor live theater can resume starting April 15th for vaccinated people with limited audience sizes and other restrictions for now. This movement is happening across the country and requires everyone in a building to be fully vaccinated in order to not require social distancing. We don't know all details for certain, but we do know that live theater will restart with some restrictions just as Broadway and regionals are planning to do.
We would love you to be a part of our first show back. Safely.
As a backup we will produce the show outdoors for a live audience, but we believe we will be in the theater by September to be back on stage while meeting the then (we hope!) green tier vaccinated requirements (which have yet to be worked out in California). The state plans to institute a green tier for a post vaccinated society and detail that out soon.We will work with the county to ensure full compliance with the updated rules in place in September 2021 before opening the theater.
We ask all applicants to fill out this audition form fully and submit with your video auditions. We will watch them in the order received so feel free to get them in well before the deadline.
FIRST ROUND AUDITIONS CLOSE ON APRIL 18th.
Lower down you'll find the method to upload your video auditions. Using your phone or any other method, please record a ONE minute audition video showing off your singing and another video with dancing. Be creative and impress us!You MAY audition with a song from the show if you feel that will show off your talents best.
